This morning I woke up and my glasses were on the nightstand just where I’d left them. The cushion on the storage bin was empty. The cheesebox was gone from my desk. Miss Puss died yesterday after a short illness at the end of a long and adventurous life. Her body will be buried in her cheesebox in the sandy soil of Antrim County. Her memory will live in our hearts always, green and sparkling as her eyes.

We are sad for you. We are sad for many things right now, tears come easily. Rest in peace Miss Puss. What beautiful eyes.

Aw, I’m sorry to hear of Miss Puss’s passing. That’s the hardest part of sharing your life with a pet – we get attached to them and they have such very short lives. Hugs to you and the duo.

My heart goes out to you Gerry. She looks amazingly like my cat Layla that passed a few years back (pictures to follow:). Stop in for tea soon and we’ll share our cat memories.

Oh I am so sad. I have a lump in my throat. I know too well how you feel and what the day after feels like. Pit of the stomach.
My many years being a humane investigator taught me to say Thank You over and over again to those who take in the unwanted and unloved and unglamourous..
What a great kitty. I’m sure she is saying- “It was wonderful being here with you”.
Thank you, Gerry.

R.I.P Miss Puss.
She had beautiful eyes, she had a great life and you have wonderful memories of a loved and cherished furry family member.
Of course it’s not easy now, but one day soon you will look at her photograph, smile and say “Well Miss Puss what do you think of THIS situation…” and you will know she is as happy and wishing you well.
HUGS…

What a life! How many cats are allowed to have their baskets ON the desk? Under it, if they are lucky, but probably in the kitchen. Or even the garage. She was a lucky girl. I hope she appreciated it. (Cats can do that.) I expect you miss her badly.

Oh no. I’m so sorry, Gerry. Miss Puss, was one of my favorite cats. She will be missed, but she will live in memory, with my dear cat friends who preceded her to kitty heaven.

These small creatures leave such huge holes when they leave. I’m so sorry – she’s so beautiful, and I suspect loved as much as she was loved.

They come into our lives, they linger awhile, and then they go on, taking a piece of our hearts with them. We never forget, and we cherish the memories. In time, we laugh as we speak of them and their antics. Until then, we sigh, wipe the tears, and know that we did what we did for them, for love.
*hugs*

And here am I, wakeful at dark-thirty in the morning, reading more kind words. The Cowboy is half asleep in the blue chair, keeping an eye on me. Miss Sadie is sensibly sleeping on the bed, untroubled by things she can do nothing about. I should go make her get off and get in there myself.
Thank you again for the messages.

Oh, it won’t be the same without Miss Puss. Everyone loved her. As an aside your name was brought up at our book club in Alden just recently. People love and appreciate you, Gerry. One woman told me that when she gets lonely for Torch Lake she plugs into your web site and it makes her smile. Our arms are around you. Patti Findlay

Oh how I love the way you told us. With few words you caused a catch in my throat. In a few short sentences you painted wonderful images of your lives together and gave a fitting tribute to a cat deeply loved. Lucky Miss Puss. Sad you.

They are small creatures, but they leave such a big empty void behind them when they go on ahead. Miss Puss will have some great company awaiting her on the far side of The Rainbow Bridge, Jett, Shadow, Felix, Annie, Frick, and Athena, to name but a few. E-hugs.

Thank you all. It’s comforting to read sympathy cards. A person could be tempted to stay in on a rainy day and wrap up in a quilt and read sympathy cards. It’s good that a person has Responsibilities.
Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I are going to go for a bracing walk this morning and then tackle some long overdue chores. (They will not be pleased to discover that the vacuum is coming out of hiding.)
