Babs Young writes: This Dandy has taken a room at the Paradise Pines Motel in Elk Rapids. He chases the hens and struts his stuff on South Bay Shore Drive and around the Motel.
Now that is a fine turkey. I’ll bet he has no trouble at all persuading the very nicest hens to join his family.

I’d vote for him in a minute. His air of dignity is far more pronounced than anything I’ve seen of late. One question from the non-knowledgeable – is that a little asymmetry I see? Looks like he’s regrowing some feathers on this side. A squabble over a girl, perhaps?

Possibly, but it was not a regular stop. My Lafayette days are 40 years in the past, and most everything has changed. One thing I do remember was Arnie’s Pizza and Deli – which I apparently remember wrong, as I looked it up and discovered that it is now apparently a chain called “Arni’s Pizza.” Back in the day it was one place, owned by Arni(e), where you could hear outstanding jazz, eat good pizza, and pick up a loaf of really good rye bread delivered from Chicago on a regular basis.
