Generally we don’t start with the orchard reports until April, but it’s been such an odd winter, hasn’t it? Babs writes: Now I’m aware that we have gotten some snow since this was taken, but this seems more representative of our winter than one taken today would be so I’m sending this one of a local cherry orchard. It was sunny here this afternoon.
Indeed it was a nice shiny day. Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I made excellent use of it, and are very sleepy, but we have one more thing to do. I meant to tell you about this a week ago but I forget everything. Babs and Cynthia Tschudy have teamed up to offer a Zentangle workshop over at the Jordan River Arts Council. Here is your personal flyer:
When you go over there for the workshop you can also see the current show, Squared and Squared Again: Big and Little. You can read more about that on the JRAC website. If that doesn’t get you into a bouncy mood, I don’t know what we’re going to do with you.

I didn’t know that was what it was called. I just love that kind of drawing. For me it starts with a doodle and ends up as a weird tree. Wish I lived nearer as your workshop is just up my street!

I believe you can take a workshop online, although that would not be nearly so much fun as taking it with Babs and Cynthia. Maybe they’ll let me make a Virtual Video.

That mention of Zentangle sent me off on a tangent to find out more about it. Now I’m inspired and can’t wait to put pen to paper.
The tangle of cherry tree branches may look bare without leaves or snow, but things are likely beginning to stir up beneath that bark with all this mild weather.

It will be very interesting to see what you come up with Miss Amy. It will no doubt be Something Completely Different. I will be able to see the Salt Marsh in it.
The cherry trees had best remember that stirring too soon leads to freezing their little buds off when April turns surly.

No idea what mild weather Amy-Lynn is talking about. Today it’s frikkin’ FREEZING !!
If it’s just “up her street”, then why the heck doesn’t Lynne go ?
It does look like a lot of fun. I’ll just sit back and wait for Amy-Lynn to figure it out, then she can teach ME, and I’ll teach Lynne when she moves here in July !
Will you show us some samples of what you do please …

You are a weather wuss. Everyone says so.
Lynne is speaking metaphorically.
I think Each-One-Teach-One is a fine approach to education.
I’m not going to do anything but take pictures of other people working. I love watching other people work.
But I will show you the pictures.

Ok, I’ve tried a couple of zentangles. See http://drawingconclusions.wordpress.com/2012/02/14/zentangles/
Not sure if there is a salt marsh or aliens from venus theme going on but maybe that’s the whole point of zentangling.
When I mentioned the mild weather, I was thinking of this winter in general, not yesterday specifically. As Sybil mentioned, it was colder than usual yesterday and probably a lot chillier in Eastern Passage than where I am in Cow Bay surrounded by trees.

I went to see your zentangles and was certain I could see the Salt Marsh. I especially liked the fish.
