This morning began well. Miss Sadie and the Cowboy behaved, and our walk proceeded without incident. Miss Puss took most of her medicine, and I did not have to haul out the Band-Aids. I have a decent cup of coffee–and the weekly photo from Babs! She writes: Summer has arrived. The beach in Elk Rapids was busy with kids. I wish I could still do some of these things.
Isn’t that just a perfect evocation of childhood summers? OK, I could never do a backbend like that, but I sure could swim, and swing, and . . . wait, wait. Babs, I can still swim and swing! Bet you can, too. Let’s go over to the park and see!
Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos at the Babs Young Photo Archives and on her Blue Heaven Flickr photostream.

Yep, I can still swim and swing, too. Thank goodness. The used-to-be-bendy back isn’t quite so flexible these days, so I won’t try emulating the acrobat there. Not without a paramedic on standby, anyway!

That paramedic thing is a good idea. I’ll alert the EMS when Babs and I go over to the park. Just in case. Or we could wait until Beth Toner, RN, gets here for her summer vacation.

You gals take good care now; no, on second thoughts just have fun. I’ll just have to see if I can still high kick the ceiling beam in our house (we have low ceiling I hasten to add.

I can see that this post is going to cause an uptick in grownups being admitted to Urgent Care. Ah well.

A hike in the woods? Stumbling along a rocky beach? I won’t always be able to do those things (a thought that occurs more and more often), which is all the more reason to do them as often as I can now. Love that picture! Yes, summer is here!

Donna Moll’s mother always says “Do it while you can.” That should be embroidered on all my tops.

Oh the joys of youth! That backbend looks absolutely…carefree. We’re just about to hit the xenith of summer. (Can we even remember snow?)

Um, yes. I can remember.

Aahhhh……. that’s my favorite swing set in the whole wide world. I was yearning for it just an hour ago, and now here it is. Thank you.

You are very welcome. I’ll bet you like the big tree that bends just so over the creek, too! It’s a nice park.

Oh, how I miss those wonderful days of summer. And the body that could enjoy them. LOL

Now Scott, it’s still a lot of fun to splash around in the lake and flop down on a blanket in the sun and eat a picnic lunch. And that’s just Miss Sadie and the Cowboy.

I still feel like a kid in the summer sometimes; probably has to do with having the summers off!
Better than “do it while you can,” I like “use it or lose it!”

There you go. So we’re all going swimming this week, right?
