One of my alltime favorite Babs Young photos was taken from this vantage point. Now she’s back, working with a whole new palette. As she says, who can resist a sunset like this on Essex Road? And this time she caught the gleam in the barn window.

Wow! Just, wow!
I’ve never seen a sunset with a sky so blue.

This is what comes of watching the sun set over the drumlins. From the house, the view is probably mostly gold, with a strip of dark Leelanau Peninsula across the Bay. But from farther east, looking west along Essex Road, there’s still plenty of blue in the sky. Of course, that is not to say that Babs hasn’t been playing with Photoshop again, as she loves to do that.

It looks tropical, proving once again that Michigan has everything. We will come back soon!

It’s nice and sunny, PJ. Also nice and, um, crisp. Yes, that’s the word for it. Crisp.

Another beauty, Babs! I just discovered Picasa (I think from ‘hearing’ you and Kathy @ upwoods ‘talk’ about it) and have a whole folder entitled “Playing with Picasa” – such fun!

I think I need to head in the opposite direction. I have told myself that I must learn to focus and expose properly before I can do any playing with effects. I am such a dull girl.

What a fabulous skyline (right word ?) ! Playing with Picasa or not, I love those dark silhouettes against your tropical sunset. A great photo !

Now that you mention it, skyline is exactly the right word. Usually we use it about the silhouette of a city, but there is no reason at all not to use it about the silhouette of a farmhouse and barn against a glorious sky–a rural skyline to envy.
