Babs Young inspected the Bay and found it icing up nicely. She wrote: It was a beautiful day in the North. Grand Traverse Bay was sporting lots of color and texture. After temperatures down around zero last night, ice is forming quickly.
I’ll say it’s been cold. My dishwasher detergent froze in the cabinet under the sink last night. But it’s been sunny and gorgeous so we’re all in a good mood. Who knows, maybe by the end of the month we can snowshoe across the Bay to Northport. Meanwhile, I’m leaving the cabinet doors open and hoping my water line doesn’t freeze.
Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos at the Babs Young Photo Archives and on her Blue Heaven Flickr photostream.

Winter blue sky…almost (I say almost) as nice as Autumns. Might be time to wrap those pipes, Gerry. I know about blankity-blank cold.
Be careful on the ice!

Your dishwater detergent froze solid inside the house??? Oh no! 2nd thought: have you been able to snowshoe across the bay to Northport before? If so, I’ll bet Pamela will wish she was back home!

Oh, no, not solid – just slushy.

Wowee! Look at the blue in that sky and water!!! The birch trees look beautiful in the foreground.
We’re just getting over a cold spell that was way too long for me. I’ve never had to bundle up so warm in my life! I’m beginning to understand why old women are often pictured wearing shawls.

Ha! Dish soap freezing! Glad it wasn’t the pipes, Gerry. Kathy, no snowshoes needed here in Florida. My only complaint today is that it’s too rainy for the dog park.

A little rain, a little reading, a little nap . . . Yup, I could do that.
