Babs writes: This is a small cottage on the grounds of the Bellaire Bed and Breakfast. It is a wonderful B & B where the Jordan River Arts Council held an Artists Gathering this past week. Check out the Arts Council’s new website.

Seems like the perfect place for a nice tea party. Inquiring minds wish to know whether this is truly a tiny cottage or a large playhouse. Either way, I want to see the inside.
Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos at the Babs Young Photo Archives.

Okay, so I know a little, since I went inside. It was a play house, I believe, and is just used for storage now. However, glued on the wall are a bunch of Harper’s Bazaar pages from the 30’s or 40’s. It’s worth a look.

Now I’m really curious! It looks like a wonderful little spot.

It’s making me want to go to the artist’s gathering in Bellaire… It is the cutest litle play house!

And the playhouse isn’t a patch on the B&B for cute. Well, charming. The B&B is charming. I’ll be interested to see what the artists who gathered put in their sketchbooks. The Artists have been gathering at places all over the region: Shooks Farm, a llama ranch, a lavendar farm, Pine Hill Nursery, various scenic overlooks, the Jordan River Watershed Center. Maybe next year I can invite them to the Writing Studio and Bait Shop. That would be an unusual adventure for all of us. Miss Sadie and the Cowboy are always a sketch.

I’ll bet if you invited them to your place next year they could do some pretty amazing close-up still lifes of bait.
That is quite a nice playhouse. The inside must have been quite charming and cozy in its day.

I could see that garden and precious playhouse photo in Better Homes and Gardents. The Harper’s Bazaar photos inside conjure up a dreamyness of adult play… And isn’t that a great aspect of gardens, fun architecture, and many types of art?

Bellaire is definitely a Better Homes and Gardens sort of place. I love looking at other people’s gardens, and I’m glad they make them, as I am far too lazy to do it myself.
