Yesterday was a good day for checking up on the wildflowers, making sure the Bay was still there, breathing.
You’ve seen this view often, in every season. It’s one of my favorites. I think that all by itself it could be an entry in the Flandrum Hill Midsummer Scavenger Hunt. All the elements are there: Earth, rising in a sandy bluff above the shore. Water, in a dozen shades of blue, caressing the beach and the ancient stones. Metal in the gunmetal clouds and in the sharp scents borne on the wind. Wood in the old railing and in the trees that bend and toss in a murmurous chorus. And Fire, lifegiving Fire, in the glorious slanting rays of the morning sun.
But I have another entry in mind, and some of the photos in hand, and a friend coming to visit for the weekend who might like to play, too, so who knows what we’ll come up with. Meanwhile, if today’s rainy beginning is depressing you, here’s some St. Johnswort to lift the clouds.

That is a lovely scene. Wild yet restful.
Thank you for posting the photo of the yellow flowers and naming them. I photographed some yesterday and wondered how I was going to go about identifying them and behold, you’ve done it for me! St. Johnswort.
Have fun scavenging 🙂
