I’d resigned myself to finding no morels this year when POP! – there they were this morning, great big ones. I cannot account for them, but I’m glad for them and have them soaking in salted water. There were new wildflowers, too, including the first tiny blooms on the wild geranium. There’s a lot of it around the Writing Studio and Bait Shop, and I like the name: Geranium Robertianum (a/k/a Herb-Robert). Makes me think of Rob the Firefighter. Then there’s the False Solomon’s Seal along the road by the mailbox. And finally something I can’t identify. By appearance it ought to be some kind of mint, but it doesn’t smell like a mint, so I don’t know what it is. Probably some sort of garden escapee. But it has cheery little googly-eyed blue flowers. So enjoy the unexpected mercies of our morning walk.
