While Rob the Firefighter was in country we didn’t do a lot of rambling about on foot, as he is still entranced with his new car. He calls it “a sporty car you can put stuff in,” which about sums it up.
What he put in it on the way up here was Lucy the Sleek. Miss Sadie and the Cowboy are quite fond of Lucy, and the three of them spent a good deal of time together in the Playpen on the deck.
Miss Puss is not so fond of Lucy, and she spent a good deal of time hiding in the woodpile and perching on the peak of the garage roof.
The only problem with that is that far below, tucked under the garage eaves, is the robins’ nest.
Miss Puss!
Well. The birds survived. Miss Puss was annoyed with me for scolding her, and has disappeared in a huff. So much for the Peaceable Kingdom.

Miss Puss, you stay away from those robins. You must. No messing.
How exciting about the Fire Fighter’s visit. Our son is coming the end of June. What a flurry of activity! (we could have used some of this mid-winter, don’t you think?)

Ah well. We get our blessings when we get them. Also our snow. Hmmmm.

Cat wars have broken out in our neighbourhood, leaving no time for bird hunting, Dandy the cat needs an escort out into the yard, where he sits on top of the Landrover where he can survey all comers.
How nice to have your boy home for a wee while

Poor Dandy! Cats can be implacable.
It was good to see Rob. We do things a little differently–he lives in the city where his dad and I raised him, while I live almost 300 miles north in the region where we used to take him camping. “Home” is an elusive concept in that context, but we’re pretty clear on the loving part and the pleasure in each other’s company part, so it all works out.

Here, Joey the cat appreciates things with wings from behind glass. Having already read the post about your clever way of having the dogs walk themselves, maybe Miss Puss could be leashed in with them, at least until after the baby robins have flown the nest. Or would this just precipitate your having to rescue dogs from the roof of the garage? Maybe Rob could take her to the city for a visit.

LOL! If I leashed Miss Puss to Miss Sadie and the Cowboy I would have to retreat to the roof of the garage. Miss Puss does not travel well. She yowls nonstop for the first 20 minutes, then throws up in the kitty carrier. Once that’s been cleaned up to her satisfaction, she settles down shakily for a nap. It is all simply too much.
