Thanks to the early shift to so-calle Daylight Savings Time the dogs have been getting their morning walk as it’s barely getting light. So this morning we’re meandering along the lane through the woods and there is a big bright moon—past full but still pretty impressive—glinting through the trees. Oh, look! I say to the dogs.
They ignore me, but I hear a voice from above. Boy oh boy I hope I’m not losing my whole mind just yet. Peering about in the dimmish light, I see a hooded figure further up the drumlin. It waves. Good morning, Gerry!
The apparition knows my name. This is probably a good sign. Maybe not. It is waving at me in a friendly manner. Definitely a good sign. The figure has a dog. The dog waves its tail and barks. Whew. Apparently Shep Shepley gets his walk early, too. Good morning Erin, I holler back, waving enthusiastically. Beautiful moon!
And so it is, although not as beautiful as it would have been on Monday, when I slept through it. Ah well. Erin and I wave some more and I go home to get the camera. Result: Almost, but no cigar.
I watch the moon fade as it sinks into the mist over the Leelanau. The sun comes up just as bright and frisky as if it hasn’t been sulking under a gray blanket for months and months, and it is clearly going to be a good day. I hear the ice creaking on the Bay. Definitely some water under there somewhere. Yes indeedy, a good day.

I can´t understand why you sometimes talk about needing a photo course…? These photos are great! I like #2 most, even they are both very pretty.
PS. No news about the carrot-boy.

Thank you Birgitte – coming from you that’s very nice indeed. The answer is that I’ve learned just enough to know that if I learned more about it, I could make some of the images I imagine but can’t create.
I’ll hold a good thought for the carrot song!
