Recently I purchased a box of wine. It was favorably priced, Bob Hicks insisted it was quite tasty, and I was looking for a way to have one glass of wine without spoiling a whole bottle. It worked out pretty well, and the last glass from the cunning little dispenser tasted just like the first. Not great, mind you, but not bad, either. Good enough for kicking back after a long day. Two weeks later, the little dispenser ran dry. I set the box aside for recycling. Then I remembered that I would need to separate the box from the inner plastic bag. Imagine my delight to discover a whole glassful of wine trapped in a corner of the bag. Imagine my greater delight to sip that glass of wine on the deck while Miss Sadie and the Cowboy romped in the snow below. Moral of the story: if you’re going to buy wine in a box in order to be frugal, for heaven’s sake make sure to milk the last glass of wine from the inner bag before heading to the recycling center . . .
- Step 4. Enjoy a free glass of wine.
- Step 3. Milk the inner bag for all it’s worth.
- Step 2. Discover a glassful of wine hiding in a corner.
- Step 1. Remove inner bag before recycling.
