Happy Halloween from the Writing Studio and Bait Shop

We love Halloween at our house.  We are all in a dither about costumes this year.  Miss Sadie, a terrier of uncertain lineage, is debating whether to go as a Yellow Dog Democrat or a pit bull in lipstick.  The Cowboy, a fluffy spaniel of some sort or another, is considering whether to have his fur sprayed blue for the occasion so that he can go as a Blue Dog Democrat.  (The Cowboy is fiscally conservative but socially liberal.)  Miss Puss, a tiger cat of definite views, refuses to wear a costume of any sort, but plans to pose regally, green eyes aglitter, as an Independent Spirit.  That or she might go mousing in the woodpile.  She could go either way.

I am going as a fairy princess.  I know, I know, I’m too old and too, er, ample to be a convincing fairy princess.  But in a year when the economy has gone to blazes and there are plenty of truly scary prospects stalking around out there, I figure everybody needs a good laugh.

Trick or treat . . .
