At dark-thirty this morning Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I headed out to get the paper and found our stairs covered in leaves and Wintry Mix. They flung themselves down with dogly joy, but I crept along clinging to the handrail with a death grip. We made it across the road, retrieved the Record-Eagle from its green tube, negotiated the return trip and thought deep thoughts about Mama Nature and her moods. Imagine, then, how nice it was to fire up the laptop and find this from Katherine:
I know I’ve been doing black & white, but then again there are some that can’t be. This looks like the trees are on fire.

Now that’s brilliant!
Here in Canberra we are having another queer day. 28 yesterday and only 18 today.
Fans on yesterday, heaters on today.

Lessee . . . multiply by 5/9 add 32 . . . or is it divide by 32 add 212 . . . Ha! Handy-dandy calculator on the web – that would be 82 deg. F. yesterday and 64 today. So Leslie, you’re having a nice moderate spring there, eh? (Earlier this month we plunged 50 degrees in one night. Fahrenheit degrees to be sure, and we bounced back to normal in a couple days, but still . . . and did I mention there is s*** in our forecast for tonight?)
