In an earlier post I deplored the proposed Alba Injection Well, and received an energetic response from UK reader Heather Uphilldowndale: It’s not my water, but yay, I’d be cross about that wee scam!! Wonder what she’ll make of this?
Township resident Donna Lane attended a Water Forum in April and came home fired up about water withdrawals from the Great Lakes. A diligent citizen, she wrote to her elected representatives. However, she found the replies from Messrs. Allen and Elsenheimer less than satisfactory. She followed up. She obtained permission to publicize an article on the subject by one Grenetta Thomassey, PhD, Policy Director, Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council. She asked if it could be posted here on Torch Lake Views. OK.
Here’s the link to the Thomassey article, originally published in the Burt Lake Preservation Association Newsletter: The Great Lakes Compact and Michigan Water Use Laws.

Gerry,
I really want to continue taking my photos for many years to come and if we don’t take a strong stand now against this problem my photos will turn ugly. Now no one wants that to happen!
I want to urge all of your viewers to follow the link above and write Messrs. Allen and Elsenheimer to tell them they need to take a strong stand that Michigan water is NOT FOR SALE to anyone. You might even consider not purchasing bottled water, especially Ice Mountain.

Your water is precious and pure, good luck with your campaign, that said, I believe you can make your own luck, but only by kicking up a mighty and persistent fuss about it.

Mighty fussmaking is one of our great strengths. Persistent, too? That could be a little problem.
