That Babs – you never can tell where she’ll turn up next. Now she’s gone off to Mackinac, just when things are greening up in Torch Lake Township. She sent us a postcard: Spring is slowly moving north and is just about to reach Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel will open for the season with full service on May 2.
Hmm. Keep in mind that Barnes Park will open to campers on May 12. Can glamping be far behind?

Are the horses back on the island yet? I’ve been thinking about them!

I didn’t know they ever left. I thought they just hunkered down in the barn and played euchre all winter like the rest of us. Where do they go?

The Petoskey Graphic had an article about the horses recently. They spend the winter in the U.P. near Pickford and start going back to the island as soon as the Arnold Line is up and running. Not all of the horses are on the island at the same time though, because they are rotated throughout the summer in order to get some R & R back in Pickford on the farm.

The Pickford Horse Spa, eh? Sounds good to me. One of the nice things about blogging is that you learn something new every single day. Thanks for today’s bit, Marilyn!
