I just loved doing Torch Lake Views and would very much like to revive it on a regular basis but it’s not at all clear to me how best to do that. It’s OK. I’ll keep working on it in between other chores.
- I’m busy sorting books so that I can keep the ones I can’t let go yet and take the others to the Little Book Cottage in Central Lake and to the free book cellar in Elk Rapids and to a few particularly special places where I think they’d be happy. (What – you don’t think your books care what happens to them? Oh.)
- I have a little library at the end of my driveway where passersby may choose some for themselves and even leave some for others. I like doing that. I try to be careful about what goes in there. So far so good. Please come and take some of them.
- I’m busy sorting masses of family photos and mementos and journals as I am the oldest living descendant of a fair number of people and it would be a shame for all the interesting stories to rot in the attic.
- I’m busy keeping up with contractors whose specialty is figuring out what the heck is going on with my electrical and plumbing and other indications of incipient dilapidation.
- I’m busy trying to sort out writing I thought I did and published on TLV . . . but seems to have disappeared. That’s a shame, as some of it was not too bad.
- I’m busy re-connecting with old friends who are often as elderly as I am. That is always rewarding.

I will be a devoted reader if you do starting posting here again.

I will try to be a devoted poster, although I am awkward at the details. It took me an astonishing amount of time to produce a post.

I can imagine that after a substantial lay off.

I say just start writing. whatever comes out of the brain and fingers, (and for me often just the fingers) will be eagerly read by us. I’m glad to see you here again. My family is, too, trying to figure out what to do with family memories as we all age. It’s a conundrum. And it’s also possibly no one younger in our family really cares. We don’t have many young ones…most of us are old. I don’t know when that happened.

I know . . . oddly enough, the actual writing part comes naturally, but I keep forgetting how to post a reply .
Ah well. I do believe the memories will find their way home to someone who needs them.

Well you know what they say….practice makes perfect. Or at least better.

Gerry! So nice to see you posting again! I, too, have brought the blog back recently after a 7 year hiatus! There seems to be a small revival of some of the bloggers from “back in the day”. I’m so happy to know you are still with us. I always enjoyed your posts.

It’s good to see you back at the keyboard.
I’ve also tried to give many of my beloved books an extended life. I gave them to the Red Cross, which has a thrift store in our town. – Thrift and fast food are taking over the stores as consumers buy their goods online.
Welcome back Gerry.

Imagine my surprise. Can it be you, or an heir?

My long distance surprise detector is a bit rusty, but you should expect to hear from me and not my heirs (yet)

That will be a great pleasure.
