We’re all a little delirious. We’re having the nicest summer . . . all four days of it have been just perfect. Babs writes: Summer came to Northern Michigan and I got to go sailing in Elk Rapids.

Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos at the Babs Young Photo Archives.

We are enjoying our summer in upstate NY this weekend, too. Ah, being moved by the wind is a fine way to spend it.

I’m happy to be out on the water in/on pretty much anything, including my truck tire innertube. Isn’t it nice to have summer!

My daughter has been ecstatic (well maybe she wouldn’t use the word ‘ecstatic’) because she’s been learning to sail in the Hudson Bay. She took three days of classes, paid $$ for a test and now she’s certified to sail. My husband says they call sailboats “blowboats”. I am hoping they keep their bickering friendly… 🙂

I am pathetically grateful to be taken for ANY kind of boat ride, and take no position on power source. My own chariot is a bright blue kayak suitable only for rivers and shoreline-hugging ventures on the Bay.

This morning the quiet of the marsh was disrupted by the sound of motorboats driven by clammers heading out at low tide. What a racket! I’d much prefer it if they used sailboats or canoes.
Anyhow, that image speaks of summer.
