This in the mail from Katherine today: Okay, I’m not sure what to say about this. I guess some people have mailboxes and others . . . . have heads on stakes??
We sat next to each other at Norton Bretz’s presentation on the Pearl family Monday, and she’d warned me The Head was coming. Naturally on my way back home that night I had to detour north on US-31 to see this phenomenon. I took a picture too. No matter how you look at it, I have no idea what this means.

hummmm, it all looks a bit Tudor, do they do ‘hung drawn and quartered’ as well? I wouldn’t like to come across this for the first time late at night!
I’m used to seeing people walking around swing in heads, our local college has a ‘hair and beauty school’ and the students are always wandering around with their ‘practice heads’ in one hand and a can of coke in the other.

Must ask Barb Higgins if Simply Hair is missing a practice head. The whole situation bears watching, don’t you think?

Gerry,
I especially like your ‘head of the glowing stake’
it’s much more ghoulish than mine!

Okay, what does it mean in biblical times? Inquiring minds want to know.

Looks like there’s some serious voodoo going on there Gerry. Throughout history, decapitated heads on stakes have used as warnings. Horror works.
But then again, maybe someone was just deciding to have some fun…

We have a leg kicking up in the air above someone’s mailbox. Truly. People put shoes and garter belts and other oddities on it. Your head seems along the same lines.

First the leg, then the head – if the arms turn up in Grand Rapids we’ll be onto something.

Sigh. I just dumped my spam filter and as the digital flood poured by I saw one I should have kept. I did not get the name, but the message was “It looks funny in the daylight. I can’t help what it looks like at night! lol”
