We finally got a nice, warm, sunny, summer day. Central Lake was full of people admiring the entries in the 6th Annual Collector Car & Truck Show. Also yours truly and the Disreputable Duo, who behaved badly and will not be taken to such an event again, but the less said about that the better. Since I know zip-all about collector cars, I offer you a gallery of ones I thought were, um, pretty. Or interesting. Or that reminded me of youthful dreams and old television commercials. (I did want to see the USA in my Chevrolet. Still do.)
There were treats, too. The craft show in the park by Cary’s Cabin and the Children’s Museum included a farmers market and a bake sale. Chris Corbett had a crew out selling hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches in front of the almost-finished Blue Pelican. It was an entirely satisfactory day, except that I had to leave before I could see everything. (I’m sure there will be a lot more about it on Joel Shooks’s website, but give the man a few days to get the 2009 awards and photos posted. You’d be amazed how much work goes into that.) As always, click on any image to see a larger version.

Thanks Birgitte! Cars aren’t my interest number one either, but I am easily distracted by the classics . . . Anyway, they do it every year, so if you ever decide to take a trip to Michigan you can put that on your agenda!

Visiting Michigan sounds like a wonderful idea, your photos and stories have often made me wish to come. Let´s see if the dream will come true one day. I´ll go directly to the writing Studio.
The classic cars are surely something special, no doubt. Each one a new story.

Wait, wait – you mean “Torch Lake Aqua? OK, I can accept that GM called it tropical turquoise back in the days when I was a tiny tot and Torch Lake was not world famous. If they had a do-over I bet they’d call it Torch Lake Aqua. Nice ride.
