So just now I open my email and there’s a letter from Babs. This is not a surprise. There’s a letter from Babs every Sunday. However, this particular email is full of more questions than answers, more je ne sais quois than true, dat. So I copy it to you without interpretive additions. Make of it what you will.
Babs writes: I saw Willie Nelson at Interlochen tonight and wanted to relate this photo to that, but it’s just not working. So here is today’s weekly picture. A poppy. Enjoy!
Dunno what it all means. Don’t ask me. Wouldn’t tell anyway. Heckuva poppy, isn’t it? Not from around here. Looks like the ones that filled the fields behind my cousin Stan’s house in northern California. I was eight. I’d never seen a whole field of poppies before. He was amazed that I thought them beautiful. “But they’re jus’ ol’ weeds!” he said.
Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos at the Babs Young Photo Archives.

Gerry, I would not send you a photograph that was not from around here. There is a small field of poppies in a yard just to the south of Sonny’s. That is where this one is located, that is if the rain has not taken it out.

Looks like someone wrinkled it up to put in their pocket then thought better of it.
