Post pantry: Bits and pieces far too good to waste

I save scraps of good stuff, hoping to find a post home for it.  A photo I like, a little piece of news, all kinds of stuff.  Then comes the day when I put all the scraps into a post and hope it comes out soup.  Looky here:

Sharon Schultz is on the mendTownship Treasurer Sharon Schultz broke her leg back in November while she was slip-sliding across the icy parking lot at the Antrim County building. She had the brace off in time for the January Township Board meeting, so she was able to wear regular clothes for the first time in weeks.  Look at that smile!  It takes so little to cheer us up in mid-winter.  For Sharon it’s getting out of her sweatpants (slashed to accommodate the brace) and into her clothes.  For me it’s getting out of my clothes and into my sweats . . . The same but different.

I went to Bobbie Patterson’s house to copy photos from her camera to my laptop, and was stopped dead in my tracks by the vision of her gazebo in winter.  It’s lovely in the summer, with the blue, blue Bay sparkling below, but this white-on-white confection was a revelation.

More finches from Bruce Laidlaw.  He calls this photo Waiting its turn, and says “Good thing you sold me that 20 pound bag of thistle.”

Finally, while I was wandering around the blogosphere checking up on the hardwater sailors, I discovered a link to some wonderful satellite images of northern Michigan covered in snow and ice. Here is one: MODIS Imagery: Lake Michigan region. I have to remember to go visit again in the spring . . .
