I took the dogs for a walk in the moonlight when I got home tonight, and thought again how beautiful it was. Then I looked at my email and discovered that Babs had been moon-gazing too. She wrote: The first full moon of 2009 was last night (1/10/09) and the skies were clear enough to see it nicely. It rose right over the north end of Torch Lake at just about dusk.

Every week photographer Babs Young captures moments in northern Michigan, and every week she sends one—and sometimes more than one!—to Torch Lake Views just for you. You can find more of her photos by following the Babs Young Photos link in the Categories list over in the right column, or by going to her Michigan Pictures Archives: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

You just made my day. I would buy a huge print of this and hang it in my bedroom. Wow.

Funny you should say that. I’ll bring it up with Babs tomorrow (breakfast at Sonny’s of course). Elk Rapids News editor Tom Vranich has been making large prints of some of the photos and graphics published in the ERN, and I’ve been thinking . . .

Seriously. This is a gift I would give many family members.

I can make prints of these in various sizes. The largest I can print is 13 x 19 and anything smaller. You can contact me or have Gerry do that and we can talk about price.

I seriously second that rave review. This may turn out to be one of the best photographs of 2009. Certainly it has set the bar for all that follow.

Thanks, Beth, PJ. It is a lovely photo, isn’t it! I’ve been in touch with Babs, and we’ll figure out how we can make prints available. More tomorrow . . .

Great moonshot. My digital cameras just can’t do the moon.

I’m still working on the sale-of-prints thing AND shoveling. I promise both are going to work out. Well, OK, the sale of prints thing will definitely work out.
