Lest you all think I’ve gone bonkers . . . This is what I put here on November 3: Please vote on Tuesday, November 4. If you’re registered in Torch Lake Township–the Antrim County one, not the UP one–your voting location is the new Township Hall/Community Services Building at 2355 N. US 31 south of Torch Lake Village. Then bright and early on Election Day I started with the updates. So now I’ve renamed and redated this post. More later!
Update on Election Day: Voting has been brisk. As of 8:45 am over 550 votes had been cast, including 445 absentee ballots. Keep in mind that we are a very small township with many residents who have already gone south for the winter, thus the heavy proportion of absentee voters.
Update at 6:45 pm: At 6:45 a total of 916 votes had been cast, 445 of them absentee ballots. Elva Cowell, a longtime elections worker and former township official herself, says that we’re on track to set a record for the number of votes cast in an election. We both think that’s a pretty good thing. Note: I’m actually writing this while logged onto the free wi-fi hotspot at the Township Hall/Community Services Building. How great is that??
Update at 7:45 pm: Total votes, 938 – and there’s no one waiting. In a few minutes we’ll run the tally. Let me correct that – at 8 pm the elections workers will run the tally!
Update at 8:21 pm: GOP sweeps TLT
