The Frugal Bugle: the canned goods sale

I know, I know, the demographic of TLV readers skews unimaginably high. You are chic, sophisticated, and affluent. In spite of all that, I sense your desire to live more simply, more intentionally, more . . . frugally. Thus the Frugal Bugle. Whenever I hear about a great bargain on something worth having, I will let you know about it.

This week: The Harvest Canned Goods Sale at the Eastport Market IGA! Way back when I was a Summer Person coming up to The Cottage from The City a couple of weekends every month, I learned about the canned goods sale. This is an event not to be missed. Beginning on Friday, September 19, you can pick up the flyer with the list of case prices on selected canned fruits, vegetables, juices, soups – and a whole lot more. There is a form. Fill it out and bring it to the store. Angela will be sending in the orders in a mad frenzy for two weeks. Then it will be all over. Those of you who have ordered will pick up your loot and carry it home, secure in the knowledge that you have stored up nuts against the winter. (There is nothing so comforting as a goodly supply of canned food-along with candles, matches, an oil lantern and a manual can opener, all of which may also be purchased at the IGA-in the face of the inevitable power outage of a northern Michigan winter.)
