Babs Young says, “Finding signs of spring is difficult around here. We had snow most of the day and Torch is still completely frozen. I found these crocus peeking through the snow.”

Poor little things, I feel like knitting them a blankie. Spring flowers are tougher than we imagine, though. This sort of thing happens to them every year, and they keep coming back.
Just in case anyone is thinking of grabbing a tip-up and some waxworms, be advised that there are pressure cracks all over Torch – some were booming today while I tried to figure out exactly where to take pictures of the 45th Parallel. It is definitely too late to haul out an ice shanty. If yours is still out there, it’s going down . . .

We love having visitors, too! Some of us have lived here all our lives, but some of us have landed here more recently, and are living lives that are pretty different from former ones. We can be full of surprises, even to each other. (“I didn’t know you could speak Urdu!” “You mean you can fix this %#@! computer?”) OK, nobody’s ever been able to fix the computer, but hope springs eternal, and we do have an Urdu speaker.

We’ve all been looking for signs of spring, haven’t we? Sharing what we’ve found multiplies the signs for each of us, giving hope. Thanks for crocuses!
