Native vs. non-native is a distinction I often ponder with a great deal of ambivalence. The big purple thistle the goldfinches love has been here since Colonial times. Do we really need to put it on the same Bad Guys list with spotted knapweed and purple loosestrife? Well, I won’t go on–not here and now, anyway.
all I can tell you is they don’t grow here!
